My Story
People know me best for my most recent role as the CFO of Cognizant India. My journey in Finance however had humble roots, starting out fresh as an audit assistant with Brahmayya and Co almost 3 decades ago, where I took charge of multiple statutory, internal, secretarial and tax audits. Then came the adventurous stint in Nigeria as the Group Financial Controller of Drury industries which encompassed challenging roles such as managing capital, cashflow revival and much more, before returning to Chennai and serving as a lead finance executive with Satyam Infoway, gaining wonderful exposure in the process of NASDAQ listing and great M&A experience as well.
All through my career, I have grabbed every opportunity to bring the latest technology to make my work easier. A key inflection point in driving digital finance transformation came up during my stint at Integra software services, Pondicherry where being the Head of Finance, I designed controls and automated processes for a host of areas that brought in great efficiencies to the group. As a key member of the leadership team and strategy workgroup, I was able to influence literally every process nerve running through the company and infuse a fresh breath of technology, wherever feasible. After a stint of almost 5 years with corporations such as Blue Rhine Group, Dubai and KG Financial software, Coimbatore, I finally landed in Cognizant building on my strengths as the Transformation and Process Leader.
During my career with Cognizant, I was tasked over the years to transform, automate, and then eventually own various processes. I had the opportunity to manage Accounts Payable, Payroll, Employee Travel Reimbursements, Global Close & Consolidation, Financial services automation, manage M&A due diligence and heading the controllership function for Cognizant India as the "India Finance Controller". Later on, I moved in to the role of Asia-Pacific Controller where I worked with people across cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and was responsible for the financials of various Cognizant entities across 15 different countries.
In my penultimate role at Cognizant, I was back to giving a refreshing digital touch to the finance process across the GBS function before taking up the top Finance job at Cognizant India - as the India CFO and Board Member. From rebuilding the GBS team to driving transformation across Finance with a strong focus on people centric culture, my stint as the CFO drew multiple awards and accolades from institutions such as CFO India's Top 100 CFO, Dun & Brad street's Finance Elite, BW Business World, India CFO Summit, India Achievers Forum, Thomson Reuters India Shared Services Summit etc. After an extremely satisfying journey in the world of corporate finance, I decided to move on with my goal of creating an enterprise that would help companies and startups which require an expert CFO to strengthen their finance function.
Now I am living the dream as the Founder-CEO of VCFO.Me Consultancy group, wherein we focus on delivering high quality Virtual CFO services, in addition to a host of other services such as process automation, executive coaching, mentoring and support for accounting & back office services.
